With regards to Central America and the Caribbean, IFF Panama exists to show the world a developing filmography, with a commitment to its own color and genuine taste that promises a new and fresh global offer. That's what Primera Mirada, the industry section of the festival, aims to benefit the culmination of Central American and Caribbean films. Primera Mirada offers economic funds for the completion of the post-production process of the winning project.
The partnership between IFF Panama and Marché du Film de Cannes completes the launching platform for this new cinema in the international arena.

RAI FILM FESTIVAL 2023: Arandu - Listen to the Weather + Q&A at ICA London
In partnership with ICA London and for one night only, RAI Film Festival hosts a programme celebrating 35 years of Indigenous filmmaking in Brazil on Sunday 19 March, from 6.15 - 8.45 pm.
A collection of four short films focus on women’s environmental movements to revert deforestation, and on the efforts of Indigenous communities to narrate their own histories, from their own point of view.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with curators Takumã Kuikuro and Christian Fischgold.
The event is part of the festival’s wider Arandu - Listen to the Weather programme available online worldwide until 31 March and curated for RAI Film Festival by Graci Guarani, Takumã Kuikuro and Christian Fischgold.

Every year, both streets invest 360 days preparing to beat their rival at the Porras Park, the epicenter where year after year they release an arsenal of feathers, Swarovski crystals, music groups, tunes and floats that show, in the five days that the carnival lasts, all the strength, power and tradition of each street. At the center of the action of this fun series are Vanesa Espino (queen mother of Up Street), her brother Pocho and their minions, Bertilda, Pepo and Caco; as well as Analia de Díaz (queen mother of Down Street), Masiel Vásquez (queen grandmother of Down Street) and Donaire's sisters, Alegría and Dinastia. The actions of each of these characters are the triggers that fuel the flame of old passions, hatreds and endless fun situations.
2:30pm - PANAMA AL BROWN (documentary) - director: Carlos Aguilar (West Coast Premiere)
Born Alfonso Teofilo Brown in the Panamanian town of Colón, Brown emigrated to the US where he become a tireless world champion who travelled the globe defending his title, befriended celebrated cultural icons in Paris, and eventually died in poverty in 1951.
3:30 PM - A TOAST TO SYBIL (documentary) - director Jorge Ameer
WORLD PREMIERE
A chronicle of the life and times of Mrs. Sybil Ameer. A remarkable woman whose faith, family and friends were paramount despite changing times and values.

US PREMIERE
A film about the adventures of a frenchman in Panama to unite two oceans and one of the biggest financial scandals of all time.
